28-31 AUGUST

2020

CHATEAU CANET-

FRANCE

We are thrilled to invite you to our rustic French vineyard wedding at Chateau Canet, Rustiques, France.

Rather than have a normal wedding day we will be having a wedding weekend over three days in the French countryside, just outside Carcassonne.

Over the August bank holiday, we'd like to welcome you to join us from the evening of Friday 28th August until Monday 31st August 2020. The wedding itself will take place on the evening of Sunday 30th August.

You said where?

HOW TO GET THERE

1. ✈️ directly to Carcassonne from London on Ryanair. Once in Carcassonne you can:

  • hire a car relatively cheaply (£100) and drive (c. 20 minutes) or

  • we can pick you up.

2. ✈️ to Toulouse (best option for Cardiffians)and either:

  • hire a car and drive (c. 1 hour 20 mins) or

  • take a train to Carcassonne (see number 1)

3. 🚙 from Britain like a legend (c. 13-15 hours). 🙌

For Gite Dwellers

37 of you have confirmed you are staying on site which is wonderful!

Chateau Canet is a working vineyard, with 47 hectares of vineyards and olive groves. They produce all their own wines, which we'll be drinking throughout the weekend! The vineyard has a pool, tennis court and other activities which you are welcome to use. We are massively excited to spend time with everyone and want you to have a relaxing trip.

Each Gite is equipped with a lounge and kitchenette. We'll be providing some meals and drink, with the option of purchasing additional items on site. However, the vineyard is remote and therefore we'd suggest stocking up on some essentials. We'll provide further details closer to the time.

What We've Got Planned

We'll be arranging activities for Saturday and will share plans to garner

who will be interested in what, however this could include:

A trip to historical city of Carcassone

We can arrange to hire bicycles and suggest routes and vineyards in the area

Castles, Forts and Villages

Toulouse Ville en Rose - the Pink City.

Narbonne and the coast

We've explored the Languedoc  region on a few occasions. Our first holiday

together was a week on a barge on Canal de Midi! It's a wonderful area, in

the shadows of the Pyrenees to the west, with beautiful coastline in the

south, and rolling vineyards throughout, dotted with stunning historical

castles and forts. Check out our Insta           for suggestions along with the

snippets below

 Think Castles, Cassoulet and

Quaffing beautiful wines!

Carcassonne - the medieval fortress on a hill, and the second most-visited city in France; fortress of the Cathars, and founded by Romans in c.100BC (and of course, location for the book Labyrinth).

Highlights in the old and "new" town include the medieval village, the market and an entrecote boeuf lunch cooked on open coals at Le Table de Norbet.
